Sainte-Chapelle tour or ticket only

Take a guided tour if you want the stories in English. The chapel's own guided tour is in French only and lasts 45 minutes.

A ticket alone suits you if you just want to see the glass. The chapel has 1,113 stained-glass windows full of scenes. Look for the Rose of the Apocalypse.

The tours here take one to two hours and start from €23. The small-group tour keeps groups to 7 people.

A Conciergerie ticket costs €13 on the official site. The combined ticket with Sainte-Chapelle costs €30 for non-EEA visitors.

Your time slot covers Sainte-Chapelle only. See the Conciergerie before or after.

The Conciergerie opens daily from 9:30 am to 6 pm, with last access at 5:30 pm. It is closed on 1 May and 25 December. A visit takes 1 to 1.5 hours.

The HistoPad tablet tour is offered until 4:15 pm. The Conciergerie is free on the first Sunday of January, February, March and November.

Notre-Dame and Sainte-Chapelle on the Île de la Cité

Both sit on the Île de la Cité, so they pair well in one morning. The Cité metro stop (line 4) serves both.

Entry to the cathedral is free; you can reserve a free time slot on the cathedral's own site, which says no other platform may sell its slots.

Two tours here add Notre-Dame from outside with a guide. After the island, an Eiffel Tower tour is the next big landmark to see with a guide.

Only small folding pushchairs are allowed, and not in the upper chapel.

The combined ticket is non-refundable. The five guided tours here offer free cancellation, as the listings show it.

  3. Bring ID and travel light

Police may check ID at the law courts. Leave knives, aerosols, glass bottles and big bags behind.

  4. Find your meeting point

Tours meet near the island: Pont au Double, Boulevard du Palais or Quai de Gesvres. One says the spot depends on your option.

  5. Check the day before

Big sights can close at short notice for strikes or ceremonies. Check the official site the day before.
