Opéra Garnier self-guided visit

The self-guided visit takes about 1.5 hours. You walk the grand staircase, the Grand Foyer and the salons at your own pace. The Library-Museum is included too.

The auditorium is often closed for rehearsals, the Opéra says, with no notice. No ticket can promise you will see it.

Paris opera house tour: guided or on your own

Go on your own if you want to take your time; take the guided tour if you want the story. The theatrical tour here is led by an actress and costs from €42. The Opéra's own guided tour costs €35 for non-EEA adults.

The theatrical tour does not go to the underground lake, the workshops or the rehearsal rooms. It does not include a show.

After the opera, an Eiffel Tower tour is the other classic visit with a guide.
